Effective Stationery & Document Design Letterheads, quotes, invoices, are still the business essentials. Your letterhead will not only provide the customer with your name and address, it will also create an image about the quality and promise of your products or services.

Things we consider when designing your letterhead:

The content of your letterhead consists of any information about your company that you want included on your letterhead. The main purpose of your letterhead is to provide information about your company. The content should include the following elements that are applicable to your company.

  • Logo and key elements
  • Company /organisation name and address
  • Contact name
  • Phone numbers
  • Fax numbers
  • E-mail address
  • Slogan / bi-line / motto / message
  • Website address
  • Associations / affiliations
  • Product brands

Do not include any unnecessary information. The letterhead should not look overcrowded and should leave plenty of space for the letter itself.

The Cloake Creative check list for an effective letterhead:

  • Check that the information is legible
  • Double check contact details
  • Allow for the address to be included in the correct position for a window envelope
  • Avoid unusual stylish dimensions and shapes
  • Print everything at the same time so once you start using your new stationery everything is consistent and you can avoid using old stationery
  • Invest in good quality paper / card, but specify laser safe stock
  • Cater to faxing

Cloake Creative Tips

TIP #1 You can reduce your stationery costs and save time by buying windowed envelopes; the recipient's address on your letter shows through the window, saving you having to print out their address a second time on the envelope or on a sticker

TIP #2 If you are looking to use a small quantity of letterhead, consider setting up a MS Word document to contain the letterhead in the background as header and footer. This makes printing easy and is a great way to include your branding when saving documents as .pdf files.

TIP #3 MS Word can be used as an alternative to accounting software. A template can include the letterhead background as well as an Excel table to calculate GST.

Cloake Creative can help you gain consistency across all of your stationery requirements...
